A new business deal looks to have paved the way for Stephen Cleeve to remain in charge at King’s Lynn Town.Singaporean investors Turn Sports Investments (TSI) and the Blue and Gold Supporters’ Trust had all but agreed on a takeover of the Linnets until Cleeve’s latest bombshell.Cleeve is believed to have been in London, tying up the finer details of the deal yesterday.Club chiefs are remaining tight-lipped about the deal, which now looks to have scuppered the potential deal involving TSI and the Blue and Gold Supporters Trust.TSI had been set to unveil former Chesterfield boss James Rowe as the club’s new manager, following last week’s sacking of Adam Lakeland, at a press conference this morning, until Cleeve informed TSI of his plans yesterday.Club owner Cleeve has been in control at The Walks since 2016 after purchasing the club from speedway chief Buster Chapman.During that time, the Linnets have climbed from the Southern League into the National League, before dropping back down to the National League North three years ago. Former boss Lakeland was sacked just days after Lynn were defeated in the National League North play-off at Chorley, which Cleeve had to oversee as the club’s majority shareholder. TSI met with the Trust last week and issued a ‘mission statement’ with Cleeve’s future at the club appearing to hang in the balance. The Trust have made it clear that they will have no involvement with the club with Cleeve at the helm. What TSI’s involvement with the club will now be remains unclear after a power battle that has been going on for several weeks.
