King’s Lynn kept up their 100% start in the National Development Trophy with an emphatic 53-31 victory at Leicester on Sunday. The Blueprint Construction Young Stars made it three wins out of three with a terrific performance in tough conditions, with a water shortage at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park meaning proceedings were brought to a halt one race early. The Young Stars had confirmed victory some time before then after taking the lead for the first time in heat 3 and extending it throughout the afternoon with a run of advantages.Cooper Rushen once again top scored and he was involved in one of the best races of the day when he got the better of home heat leader Sonny Springer in a hard-fought heat 11 battle to join Jody Scott for a 5-1.That was the Young Stars’ second maximum of the day as Rushen had already combined with Luke Harrison for maximum points over Ace Pijper in heat 9.Dust became an issue from midway through the meeting, but both Max Perry and Ashton Vale stormed their way inside Luke Harris to prevent a Fox Cubs advantage in heat 10.Scott missed out to Will Cairns on the line in heat 13 after the two riders put on a tremendous and respectful show of passing, but the Young Stars skipper still joined Rushen and Perry in double figures. The latter pair teamed up in heat 14 for a 5-1 to take the margin above 20-points before a halt was sensibly called as it would have taken too long to obtain enough water to keep the track safe for racing. In a solid all-round showing, Vale snatched a win with a late pass of Pijper in heat 12 when the home rider slowed with visibility issues, while both Calum Mitchell and Harrison Rogers rode sensibly to avoid incidents and put points in the board as a result.Team manager Jason Pipe said: “It was definitely a team performance, and they all rode their hearts out.“Unfortunately, Leicester were a bit weakened by injuries, although I was still a bit surprised with how many points we won by, and the reason was that from one to seven they all played their part. “What was also really noticeable was how they all mucked in together, helping each other out in the pits, and there’s a good team spirit developing.“I was really pleased to see both Max and Ashton getting heavily involved after a bit of a slow start to the season through unfortunate crashes. “Calum’s confidence was high before the meeting and it was great to see him in the points again, and that’s another track he can ride now!“We’re all chuffed with the result, thanks to the fans who supported us, and it was also good for the boys to see our senior manager Rob Lyon there watching.”Next up for the Young Stars is the return fixture against the Fox Cubs at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday, June 25.
