King’s Lynn Golf Club’s Myhill squad held off an afternoon revival from their opponents to defeat Bawburgh Golf Club. Both teams feilding strong pairs faced a dry tough golf course in changing windy conditions, yet both teams put on a show for the spectators. With only four points up for grabs this year, in the morning and afternoon, it meant both teams knew it was a race to four-and-a-half points to take the win.Lynn took the lead at lunchtime, winning the first three of four matches to lead 3-1 at lunch. The Bawburgh captain knew he needed to make a change at the halfway point and mixed their order up and it nearly paid off. With four holes to play, Bawburgh were up in two, all square in one, and down in one.Lynn’s Andy Hudson and Josh Dixson won their second match of the day on the 15th green, 4-1 to the home team. Iain Yule and Joe Ellis got a hard-fought half on the 18th, claiming the final half-point that Lynn required. Harry and Tom Davis, on debut, were one down on the 18th tee and they battled to the end, winning the last, to take one-and-a-half points on a fantastic start to their Myhill journey.Stuart Olley and Paul Holland turned their match around from two down with five to play, to win 2up as the home side ran out 6-2 winners. The next round takes place on June 15.
