Bunn bags a top-three finish at GEAR 10k

This weekend saw the return of the Grand East Anglian Run, aka the GEAR 10k.Fast and flat, with huge crowds gathering to celebrate the Lynn running community, this event is still one of the county’s most popular races.WNAC once again built upon the club’s success from last year’s event and showcased yet another fine showing this year for the club and its athletes.Luckily for runners, the temperatures had dropped considerably from last weekend and albeit some strong winds in places, the conditions meant some personal bests were on the cards and WNAC athletes did not disappoint.The first home for the club was the in-form Mitchell Bunn, who not only sealed a top-three finish but notched himself a new PB of 32:50 to place third overall.Arran Reeve was only seconds off his PB, running an incredible 34:37, coming home 10th overall while junior Charlie Frammingham claimed a new PB, running an impressive 34:41 to place 12th overall.Lewis English was next home for the club as he too ran a new PB of 35:16. Karl Brown came across the line running a time of 36:52, his best time on the GEAR course.New member William Hayes did his first GEAR in 37.49, to cap a brilliant debut, and Neil Stapleton enjoyed a solid run only seven days after the London Marathon, coming home with a time of 37:51. Martin Sheldrick was comfortably under the 40-minute marker, running a very strong 38:11.WNAC youngster Alfie Bone ran impressively to finish the 10k with a time of 38:16.One of the youngest participants Henry Gosnell, 15, took on his first GEAR 10k, running a time of 38:19. Gosnell was paced to his sub-40 aim by clubmates Adam Howard (38:17) and Callum Stanforth (38:21).More red vests continued to cross the line on what was a great day for the small Lynn-based club. Digby Frammingham 39:41 pulled another sub-40 out of the bag, Neil Gayton continues to skim that 40-minute time with 40:12 and new member Wayne Gayton had a great run with 43:08.On-form Lee Richardson pulled out another PB with 41:01, Ben Foxwell ran 41:03 – his fastest in three years and three minutes quicker than last year – and Hanley Angell earned a PB of 42:29 to continue his progression.Greg Davis ran his first GEAR for the club in 42:45 and Oliver Foxwell was on pacing duties and ran his friend to a PB, they finished together in 43:49.Another on-form athlete, Carl Picket,t ran a PB of 44:04.Oliver Gayton smashed his PB with 45:13 and again was one of the only 15-year-olds on the course.Club chair Mark Garrett continued his streak of PBs with 45:27 and Katrina Wasteney ran a brilliant 46:02. Rob Gosnell was pleased to get round on marathon legs in 47:23 and also had to tackle mini gear after.Ryan Towsey ran well on a leg injury for a great 47:15 and Sammy Stringer hit her target with 48:04.Michael Hadley ran his fastest 10k for two years with 49:35 while Phil Kitney was on pacing duties with 50:59.Helen Garrett continued her impressive streak with yet another PB of 52:59. Mike Stollery, who was also on pacing duties, dipped under the hour with a time of 56:39 and Matthew Eldridge, despite taking a bad fall on route, still battled to finish with a time of 1:10:45.Susi Rogers-Hartley, who took part in the wheelchair race, rounded off the PBs by clocking a time of 1:11:29, only a week after her triumphant performance in London.
