King’s Lynn’s new National Development Trophy team race at home for the first time tonight as Birmingham visit the Adrian Flux Arena (7.30pm).The Blueprint Construction Young Stars were impressive 48-41 winners at Perry Barr earlier this month, and now they look to complete the double which would also give them the aggregate point. It’s an unchanged team in terms of personnel for the home side, although reserves Cooper Rushen and Calum Mitchell have switched positions, with Rushen having enjoyed an extraordinary start to life in the NDL/NDT with a string of big scores in all meetings he has competed in.Meanwhile the Bulls have signed the experienced Connor Coles as a replacement for Max James, who is serving a 28-day ban after stepping down from his Championship club Edinburgh, and Coles comes in at No.1 with Tom Spencer reverting to No.5.Young Stars boss Jason Pipe said: “It’s been a while since a Young Stars team has been on track around the Adrian Flux Arena, so it would be good if the fans turn out in good numbers to support the boys.“Looking at the weather forecast, it’s looking like we are going to get good weather and hopefully fans will come out of their houses on a lovely evening and support the boys.“This is a meeting that will give us a good test in our first home meeting of the season, as the Birmingham team has certainly not been weakened by Max James’ absence, when you can bring in a rider like Connor. “All the boys are really excited and looking forward to getting out on to their home track and to try and do the double. We need to gain these three points on Wednesday to give us a bit of a lead at the top of the table and then let the other teams try to catch us. It’s much easier to be on top being chased rather than you being the chasers! “One rider really looking forward to Wednesday evening is our local boy Calum Mitchell. I’ve never seen a rider so excited about making a home debut before! Calum and I have chatted quite a bit in messages and in person since that away meeting at Birmingham and he is really up for Wednesday.“Calum has ridden quite a lot of laps now around the Adrian Flux Arena since last summer in practice sessions, and he’s feeling highly confident about racing on his home track.“He was very nervous in the away leg at Birmingham, as that was his first ever speedway meeting and it was all new to him. I just told him to relax and just enjoy riding his bike. “I’ve had to take a look at the riding order after that meeting and I’ve decided to put Calum at No.7. I think this will help him as he’ll have an apposition reserve against him in each of his races.“Also by putting Cooper at No.6, it will strengthen us up in the heats when 5 and 6 are partnered together, with Coops racing with Luke (Harrison).” The meeting also features a full second half with three 500cc races and three 250cc races, including Young Stars mascot Oliver Bovingdon, who will also be on track before the main meeting.Admission prices are £15 for all adults, £5 for children aged 12-15 (accompanied by an adult) and under-12s free. King’s Lynn: Jody Scott, Harrison Rogers, Ashton Vale, Max Perry, Luke Harrison, Cooper Rushen, Calum Mitchell.Birmingham: Connor Coles, Arran Butcher, Sam McGurk, Darryl Ritchings, Tom Spencer, Senna Summers, Eli Meadows.
