King’s Lynn Town manager Adam Lakeland was proud of his players after they qualified for the National League North play-offs.Lynn required just a point against Chester to ensure home advantage in the National League North’s first play-off eliminator, but after suffering a 3-0 home defeat on the final day, they will now travel to Chorley on Tuesday night.A delighted Lakeland said: “I can’t tell you how proud I am of this team. In 12 months, we’ve dragged this club off its knees, got it in the play-offs.”We’ve had this group together for nine months and they’ve given everything, even then, 3-0 down at half-time, the easy thing to do is to give up and we kept going right until the end.”How we’ve not scored in that second half, I don’t know, because some of our play at times was very, very good.“Our objective at the start of the season was to at least make the play-offs and we have done so I’m super proud of the lads for that.”Lynn’s boss left the pitch after an angry exchange with a section of the fans standing in front of the main stand. “People should get behind the players when they’re coming off the pitch and not do the easy thing that non-football fans do and have a go at the players,” he said. “I think it’s appalling behaviour, that, I really do. For me, those people aren’t welcome in this football club. Get behind your team, through thick and thin.“The proper fans do, but then you get the odd numpty.“Let’s have a little bit of perspective. We’re playing against a former Football League club. They’ve nothing to play for, they’ve brought what, 200 down, clapping them off the pitch. “They’ve rested seven, eight, nine players there today. The players that they’re putting in, there are probably three or four of them that would be in our team, and they’re not even getting their squad.“There are five teams that finished above us in this league -three of them are big, massive former Football League clubs.”You’ve got Chorley, who are always in the play-offs and you’ve got Brackley, who’ve won the league, that are always there or thereabouts.“I think we need to remember where we were 12 months ago. “We nearly went down. We got 55 points, we’ve got 79 points and we’re in the play-offs.”
